[How-to] BB-View without LED and Keys

Former Member

How can I remove the 2 LEDs and the 4 Buttons (Keys) from the capemgr, so that the pins are not blocked by the BB-View LCD.

I tried it, by changing the "BB-VIEW-LCD7-01-00A0.dts" file of the BB-View. I found the file in the angstrom source. I removed all parts with the LEDs and the buttons.

I compiled it and replaced the ".dtbo" file in my beaglebone under "/lib/firmware/". Than I reboot. The screen was loaded but also the buttons and the keys. :-(

Can somebody help?

    what happens if you remove the BB-view dtbo file completely ?

    there's a possibility to compile the contents of /lib/firmware or selected files only into the kernel image itself. If something like that has been done, then changing or removing the file will make no difference, you'd have to rebuild the kernel itself and tell it not to include any firmware.

    The options in the kernel config are:

    CONFIG_FIRMWARE_IN_KERNEL=y
    CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE=""

    where CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE may be either a list of files, or a directory. When the kernel is built these files get included and the firmware loader then doesn't need to look for them on the filesystem.
