Overview

image

The Leopard Board 368 is an Open Source hardware project, a full featured, ultra low cost, small form factor, high performance development system which includes TMS320DM368 processor. Basically the LeopardBoard DM368 is an evaluation board that allows to get access to all the hardware and software capabilities of the TMS320DM368 Texas Instrument's system-on-chip (SoC). This SoC belongs to the DaVinci family oriented principally to multimedia applications. The board has full featured accessories which inlcudes Video input, CMOS interface, Video output, Audio In/Out, Debug Ports.

The TMS320DM368 is capable of achieving HD video processing at 1080p 30fps H.264 and is completely pin-to-pin compatible with the TMS320DM365 processors, using the same ARM926EJ-S core running at 432 MHz. This ARM9-based TMS320DM368 device supports production-qualified H.264BP/MP/HP, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MJPEG and VC1/WMV9 codecs providing customers with the flexibility to select the right video codec for their application. These codecs run on independent coprocessors (HDVICP and MJCP) offloading all compression needs from the main ARM core. This allows developers to obtain optimal performance from the ARM for their applications, including their multi-channel, multi-stream and multi-format needs.

Video surveillance designers achieve greater compression efficiency to provide more storage without straining the network bandwidth. Developers of media playback and camera-driven applications, such as video doorbells, digital signage, digital video recorders, portable media players and more can take advantage of the low power consumption and can ensure interoperability, as well as product scalability by taking advantage of the full suite of codecs supported on the TMS320DM368.

Serial output is provided through a 2.5mm stereo jack. When I saw the diagram I thought it's marked by mistake.

But actually it's correct! The serial connection is given through a 2.5mm jack. I don't know why that's made that way!

A 4 pin male burg strip connector will easily do the job. Jumper wires can be used to attach it to a Serial-USB bridge.

In this case you need to make an adapter to do so.
