Kit Overview

The BeagleBoardBeagleBoard is an OMAP3530OMAP3530 platform designed specifically to address the Open Source Community. It has been equipped with a minimum set of features to allow the user to experience the power of the OMAP3530OMAP3530 and is not intended as a full development platform as many of the features and interfaces supplied by the OMAP3530OMAP3530 are not accessible from the BeagleBoard. By utilizing standard interfaces, the BeagleBoard is highly extensible to add many features and interfaces. It is not intended for use in end products. All of the design information is freely available and can be used as the basis for a product. BeagleBoards will not be sold for use in any product as this hampers the ability to get the boards to as many community members as possible and to grow the community.

BeagleBoardBeagleBoard is based on TI OMAP3530OMAP3530 application processor featuring an ARMRegistered CortexTm-A8 running at up to 720MHz and delivering over 1,200 Dhrystone MIPS of performance via superscalar operation with highly accurate branch prediction and 256KB of L2 cache. The OMAP3530 also includes a TMS320C64x+ DSP for accelerated video and audio decoding, and an Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX530 GPU to provide accelerated 2D and 3D rendering that supports OpenGL ES 2.0.  Video out in the BeagleBoardBeagleBoard is provided through separate S-Video and HDMI connections. A single SD/MMC card slot supporting SDIO, a USB On-The-Go port, an RS-232RS-232 serial connection, a JTAG connection, and two stereo 3.5 mm jacks for audio in/out are provided.

Key Applications: Streaming video, 3D mobile gaming, Video conferencing, High-resolution still image.
