Kit Overview
The TMDX470MF066HDKTMDX470MF066HDK Hercules Development Kit (HDK) is based on the Texas Instruments TMS470M Microcontroller. The TMS470M HDK is a table top card that allows engineers and software developers to evaluate certain characteristics of the TMS470M microcontroller to determine if the microcontroller meets the designer application requirements. Evaluators can create software to execute on board or expand the system in a variety of ways. TMS470M full featured development kit comes with two CAN transcievers and access to all peripheral pins on the TMS470MF066 device. Kit includes CCS, HALCoGen, nowFlash, HET IDE, Demos and code examples.
The HDK board operates from a single +5 V external power supply connected to the main power input (P1), a 2.5 MM, barrel-type plug. Internally, the +5 V input is converted into +3.3 V and +5.0 V using Texas Instruments swift voltage regulators and PTH power module. The 1.5 V CPU core power is generated by MCU internal regulator. There are multiple power test points on the HDK board. The three main test point pairs provide a convenient mechanism to check the HDK’s current for each supply.
The HDK is designed to work with TI’s Code Composer Studio and other third party ARM IDEs. The IDE communicates with the board through the embedded emulator or an external JTAG emulator. To begin, follow the instructions in the quick start guide to install Hercules-specific software. This process installs all of the necessary development tools, documentation and drivers.
The TMS470MF06607 device is a member of the Texas Instruments TMS470M family of Automotive Grade 16/32-bit reduced instruction set computer (RISC) microcontrollers. The TMS470M microcontrollers offer high performance utilizing the high efficiency ARM Cortex-M3 16/32-bit RISC central processing unit (CPU), resulting in a high instruction throughput while maintaining greater code efficiency. High-end embedded control applications demand more performance from their controllers while maintaining low costs. The TMS470M microcontroller architecture offers solutions to these performance and cost demands while maintaining low power consumption.
