Design rule screen in 5.7.0

The design rule screen is missing the "Save As" and "Load" buttons, at

least I cannot find them nor any way to save the file to a new name.

The screen shown on page 131 of the manual shows them, but danged if I

can get them to show up.

It would also be quicker if you answered the question rather than telling

us what you might do in my situation.

You wanted to know if you could get the different DRC screen that I showed

by running DRC in the board editor as apposed to wherever you were running

it.  The point was that you could have and should have simply tried it.

    It

would have taken a few seconds.

    Olin,

You are obviously a very experienced engineer and have tons of knowledge.

But why on earth do you insist on being so extremely rude on this forum?

I just do not understand the need to be that way.  If 'newbie' questions get

on your nerves so terribly, maybe those are the ones you should pass up and

    let somebody else answer.

Calm down. This group is usually very fast if there are errors to report.

Usually I want to have a schematic before I discuss design rules and I

suppose many many others do it the same way.

So the problem may never have been noticed because I just checked

version 4.16r2 and that shows the same picture with no

" load / save as.." when opened from the control panel.

So this bug is confirmed and will be noticed by cadsoft you can bet.

But why didn't you try what Olin suggested, go from the board? image

It seemed logical to this newbie to set up the design rules before

beginning the board layout.  After completing the schematic and before

starting the board I wanted to set up my design rules.  That just seemed

logical to me and since one can access the design rules from the Control

Panel, why not provide for creating a new set of them for the subsequent

    board.  Hence, my question.

Then Olin gets all snarly and I questioned why.

I have now set my reader to ignore him.  Sorry if I offended anyone else.

    John,

Not offended here at all.  I'm sorry you had a negative experience on here.

In my opinion, that is not what the forums should be about.

    It's not a bug - it's a feature image

The "Load" and "Save" buttons are there to load a different

Design Rules file into a board (or save the current one from

a board). When editing a Design Rules file from the Control

Panel, there is no board to load into or save from.

    Klaus Schmidinger

That - certainly is correct but one could save it in the dru folder to

    be loaded later image

But it's not about driving a plane or taking a joke... its common courtesy.
