how to measure when making packages?

fritzz
fritzz over 13 years ago

I see how to make a symbol since measurements are not critical, but how do I measure the sizes when making a package? If it's .100 spacing on my part, that seems ok, but what about when it isn't a standard size?

I don't see a measuring tool. I am looking for any tips how or a pointer to info to make this easier..

Thanks

You can set the grid (help grid) and snap to it. You can do properties

and set the location and to measure you can look at the numbers on the

left side or you can set a mark (help mark) for a relative measurement.

Is ther really no ruler tool when making packages? Counting little boxes is a bit tiresome, and that measure tool is ok, but not great...

Once I add a measure mark, how do I remove it?

There are continuous coordinate readouts in the upper left region of the

board editor.    These will give you both absolute (relative to the

origin of the board) and relative (to the last placed marker).    Using

the relative coordinates will save you from having to count boxes.

One caveat is that to be the most useful you should have a fairly high

resolution setting for the alt-grid and use alt-grid when placing the

marker.   Doing so will allow you to place the marker accurately.
