Can't create PROJECT directory ???

Sounds like something with access permissions or non-permanent network

addresses.

Can you assign a (permantent) network drive letter to the path at the

NAS that contains your data? Then use that to define the EAGLE directories.

That's what I did - here is my path to the MAS-drive:

X:\PRIVAT\KELD\Hobby\Elektronik\Eagle\projects

and here is the path seen in Option/Diretories:

C:\Program Files\EAGLE-5.11.0\projects;

X:\PRIVAT\KELD\Hobby\Elektronik\Eagle\projects

and I HAVE tried to switch the 'C' and 'X' paths - same problem.

If I leave out the 'C' it will still create on on the C-drive when started

- never mind that !

You should verify that you can reach the X: project direatory, using

explorer, before starting  Eagle.

Doing that may wake up the connection to X: and then when you start Eagle it

will find the project directory.

If so, its a case of making the changes in Windows.

I don't think there's no solution to this problem - we just pointed you

at some details to look at.

Try if you can access drive X: immediately after booting up the system

(by command line or shell tool).

Try if EAGLE can access that project path /after/ you first have

accessed X: by any other means.

P.S. We are storing /all/ our data on a local network drive without any

problems. Though we are currently still using XP Pro, I think this is so

essential that it will be basically identical with 7.

Yes - I remember that when assigning a network drive letter, there's a

checkbox for making it permanent...

 

AFAIR, you can't change that setting later - you have to delete the

assignment and freshly define it with that option applied.

I have seen other similar problems on windows (xp). Network drives using

password to logon doesnt seem to ask for password when accessed from 3rd

party sw. They just claim the drive is not there, but when you ask for it

through explorer, it will ask you for a password.

I suspect this is the same network drive issue, with or without password,

and maybe there is something cadsoft (and other sw) could do to prevent it.

I do not know if this is a problem on newer windows versions.
