Hello everybody.
Is there a way (perhaps a ULP) for creating negative text on
silkscreen ? I know it can be done by importing a .bmp file but
i wonder if there is a more elegant way.
Thanks

Hi guys,
I wasn't able to make this ULP to work in Eagle v.6.1.0. Did you try your script with recent
versions of Eagle? I followed these instructions:
--------
1. Open a new board
2. Draw a polygon on the top layer
3. Change to 8 mils the width of the polygon
4. Choose the layer 41 (tRestrict) and write or draw what you want
inside the polygon area
5. Run negasilk.ulp (a script is generated)
Now, you can:
Either run the script in the final board on the layer of your choice (21) or best, run the script
in a library for using the result in the board as a component
--------
The scripts that the ULP generates contains only a couple of lines and
not as many as the example that was inside the zip file. Do you know
what could be causing the problem?
Thank you.
I've just tried negasilk in V6.2.0 and all seems to work correctly
Maybe your problem is that you forget to run RATSNEST before to launch negasilk.ulp ?
I have to add this:
If you write a texte in the layer 41, you have to change the font to "vector" and check the Orphans
in the polygon properties box.
You can also reduce the width of the polygon for a best filling.

Hi Christian,
The two sites mirror each other, I was able to find importexport.zip and
pcb-service.ulp on the new site as expected, however I couldn't find
gencad_131.ulp. I let our webmaster know and see what happens.

Hi Warren,
Then it sounds like you're better off posting the ULP to the Online Repo
then to the newsgroup. The Upload rules seem a lot less intrusive then
the newsgroup guidelines.
Funny how things work.

Hi Christian.
I would like to thank you for your ULP. It really saved me hours of work.

Thanks Christian,
I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes. I made sure to give you credit on the upload, thanks of
writing the ULP.
I hope the clarification will ease the concerns of other users and motivate them to post their
ULPs on the site so that other users may benefit from them.
Thanks again.

Hi Jorge,
Maybe I missed something but it seems there are two sites to post ULPs
The old:
And the new: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/cadsoft-downloads/
If this is the case, there are 3 programs on the old site that have not been transferred to the new
site:
importexport.zip
pcb-service.ulp
gencad_131.ulp

Hi Warren,
There is no such condition on the site. Here's the upload statement:
"You can use this form to upload a file to the CadSoft Download
directory and make it available to other EAGLE users.
By uploading a file you document that this file may be freely
downloaded, used and modified by anybody who wishes to do so, without
any limitations whatsoever – unless your upload contains a statement
about a certain license that applies to your files (like, e.g., the
GNU Public License).
After you have uploaded your file, an automated email will be sent to
you at the given email address. You need to reply to that message to
confirm your email address before your file will be reviewed.
Note that your email address will be listed on the download page, so
that others can contact you in case of problems or questions.
CadSoft reserves the right to decide whether or not to make any
particular upload available for public download."
We basically consider the ULPs as open source software, so no one
really has ownership of them. Thanks for the concern, though it's
nice to know someone's got your back. I made sure to give Christian
credit for the ULP when I uploaded it. I figure sinced it was already
in the public domain it would be OK to upload it to the site, kind of
like a mirror.
Thanks for the concern, and for making me look into this. At the very
least it's taught me to be more careful.
Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia

Did you get permission from the author to upload it to the CadSoft site?
Correct me if I'm wrong. The terms of use of the CadSoft site are, if you
upload something there the IP rights are transferred/gifted to CadSoft.
There are no such terms for the Newsgroup forum and some authors elect to
post content there but purposly avoid uploading to the website to prevent
gifting the IP rights to CadSoft.
It may pay to check out your action.
