Hi all,
My first post here, so apologies if I have set my post out wrong, or posted in the wrong place!
I am having an issue naming my custom components properly, ie getting Eagle to name them IC1, IC2, etc.
I believe on the schematic, you must enter the symbol editor and then set the name of the component to >NAME. This appears correctly next to my schematic symbol.
Then when you are in the device editor, it replaces the name with G$1 - which from my understanding of the manual is a placeholder, or the default name - no worries there. I then set the prefix to be IC.
However the problem arises when I place the symbol in a schematic. The name appears as IC1G$1. The numbers do increment, but I would prefer not to have the G$1 after IC1.
After again reading the manual, it says that G$1 should appear in the device editor, but should be replaced by the IC1 completely in the schematic. Does anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong?
I have connected all the pins to the footprint.
If you would like screenshots to understand my problems easier, by all means let me know and I can sort them out for you.
Many thanks for your time,
Sparky
