grouping permanent

Hi

 

It would be useful to group some Parts in SCH and in BRD permanently (lock/unlock function) to modify (move, mirror, etc) them together. For example a Diode together with a Heat sink, a LED together with a light guide. This behavior should be stored in the XML files too to be permanent.

    To do it with an ULP would not work satisfactorily because it could not be integrated deeply in the editor. Storing the groups permanently in the board/schematic file is not possible and storing in external file would be cumbersome.

     

    I would vote vor Guillaume and giorgiobiso specifications!

     

    additionally:

    the origin of the group could be selected out of the origins of the elements.

    Martin Fürst idea is good and permanent grouping is a missing basic function. This function should at least have these specifications:

    - a group could hold any elements: part, wire, via, polygon ...

    - lock the relative position of all the elements of group;

    - the group absolute position should be lockable / un-lockable (like parts)

    - the group should be permanent (store in to the brd/sch file)  (@ Clem : I don't see how you manage to to this last point with ulp....)
