Consistency errors

Hi Jim,

Did you edit the schematic or board without the corresponding file open?

This is a guaranteed way to create consistency errors. The missing air

wires would probably be because the net was added in the schematic while

back annotation wasn't working so the board knows nothing about the net.

You've not really given enough information about what the errors actually

are for us to be able to help, can you post up what the actual messages are

saying?

Basically what you'll need to do is back out any additions to the schematic

that happened while not in sync and make sure any property changes are in

sync across both the schematic and the board. Keep running ERC and working

through the list of differences until you see all the errors are cleared.

If you can supply more info then we can probably help more.

The errors are as follows:

Different connections on R48 pin 2 and pad 2 (-12V/$$1) 2

Different connections on R84 pin 2 and pad 2 (-12V/$$1) 3

Different connections on U15P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1) 2

Different connections on U17P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1) 3

Different connections on U20P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1) 3

I always open the schematic first and then open the board from the schematic. I need one to finish wireing the other. There may be traces that I have added since this problem started, that I expect, but I have errors on traces I did last week. All of these errors are on traces that I did last week before any of these problems arose. I have opened, saved, and closed these files multiple times in between.

How do I clear these errors? Do I have to retrace the -12V node? The entire board? I've already tried retracing the traces between the different parts. I have also tried deleteing, saving and replacing the parts.

It looks to me like you added -12V connections to R48, R84, U15P, U17P and

U20P with the board closed. Open the schematic, delete just those 5

connections and then switch to the board. Then run ERC and hopefully you

should be sorted.

First attempt:

I deleted the -12V from all of the offened nodes from the schematic. I then saved the schematic. Then I readded the -12V nodes. Saved a second time. Then tried to reopen the board. Same error. The -12V node was copied from another part that also uses -12V and doesn't have a problem.

Second attempt:

I deleted the resistors R48 and R84 then saved the schematic. I then replaced the resistors and saved the schematic. I then opened the board, same errors.

No, that's not what I said to do. What made you try those procedures? All

you needed to do was remove the -12V nets to the 5 components listed with

the board closed and then switch to the board (keeping the schematic open!)

and run ERC.

I'm willing to try anything, and any variation, to solve this problem.

No, what you wrote above as your first attempt is not what I said to do.

You removed and saved the connections then remade the connections before

opening the board, therefore the board is still inconsistent. You need to

get the schematic and board in sync BEFORE you remake the changes.
