Consistency errors

maciv4
maciv4 over 9 years ago

I have 5 consistency errors, on sections of my board that I wired several days ago. One of the errors is on an airwire. Do I have to delete the entire net to find the offending trace. I also have missing airwires; parts with no airwires attached at one end. I also have airwires still in place after I have placed traces, that ratsnest won't clear. I assume that the consistency errors are preventing annotation between the schematic and the board. Can you help?

    Hi Jim,

Did you edit the schematic or board without the corresponding file open?

This is a guaranteed way to create consistency errors. The missing air

wires would probably be because the net was added in the schematic while

back annotation wasn't working so the board knows nothing about the net.

You've not really given enough information about what the errors actually

are for us to be able to help, can you post up what the actual messages are

    saying?

Basically what you'll need to do is back out any additions to the schematic

that happened while not in sync and make sure any property changes are in

sync across both the schematic and the board. Keep running ERC and working

through the list of differences until you see all the errors are cleared.

If you can supply more info then we can probably help more.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael

I now have the following errors:

    Different connections on R48 pin 2 and pad 2 (-12V/$$1)   2
    Different connections on R84 pin 2 and pad 2 (-12V/$$1)   3

    Different connections on U15P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1)    2

    Different connections on U17P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1)    3

    Different connections on U20P pin V- and pad 4 (-12V/$$1)    3

Part R46 has different values in schematic and board (2.61k Ohms/2.61K)

Part R48 has different values in schematic and board (2.2k Ohms/2.2K)

Part R84 has different values in schematic and board (2.2k Ohms/2.2K)

    what should I try now?

    Hi Jim,

The warning was fine and to be expected as you had deliberately

    disconnected the pin.

Was the error message exactly the same after you deleted the net?

I suspect there was some net remaining connected to the pin which retained

the net name. You need to remove the net that connects directly to the pins

in the schematic. If you do this correctly the errors WILL go away.

As Jorge says, it's often safer to try one at a time, running ERC after

every change. With the limited number and type of errors you had I wasn't

worried about things being made worse by doing it all at once but as a

matter of good practice Jorge is right on that front so do the changes one

at a time, running ERC after every change to verify.

If you are still having issues then please include screen shots of the

sections of the schematic / board so we can see what's going on as well as

the exact wording of the very latest messages.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael

I managed to get two of the errors cleared. R48 and R84 both were completely isolated and the error went away. As soon as I tried to reconnect the two parts the errors came back.  I gave up and went home for the night. I tried again this afternoon and connected both parts. One of the parts has no error, but now I get a warning that one of the pads, on each parts I have connected, is not connected, even though I have now connected both pads on both parts.

I still have problems with the other three pins. If I try to delete any part of the -12V node, I loose the entire node for almost half the board. Reconnecting to U15.4 doesn't seem to be recognized by eagle at all.

I have other projects that I need to work on the rest of the week, I will try again next week and see if I have any luck then.

    Hi Jim,

Unless there is a really good reason not to do so, like needing an NDA or there being a security clearance issue relating to your project, your quickest route to getting this resolved would probably be to send the design files to Jorge at CADSoft. It's the sort of issue he should be able to fix quite quickly and it seems you spent quite a lot of time on this already.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Jim,

The EAGLE Central/Element14 link is currently broken. Jorge just replied on EAGLE Central so I have copied it below so you see it:

    Hi Rachael

Do you know for sure that Element14 has begun mirroring the EagleCentral

mirror of the Cadsoft Eagle forum. If not then it would be the Element14

interaction with the Cadsoft forum that is broken.

You are probably right, I was just using the term mirror for convenience.
