Change netname by wiring to copied Xref label

1) draw the first net stub and attach the label.

2) group the label and the end of the net stub it is connected to

3) copy & paste as needed.

the duplicates keep the net name and can be used to start other net

segments.

You can do this even for multiple nets at once.

Be aware that placing the free end of such a copy on a pin won't

connect.

You will need to pick up the part and drop it in place to make the

connection. But no need to do that for each single net, you can do it

once after you have placed all nets for that part.

Is this feasible or can it already be accomplished somehow?

Hi Steve,

Another option is to use Buses. Type the command 'BUS' and draw your bus

within the schematic.  Using the context menu on the bus select the NAME

command and name your bus with as many names you think you will be

needing. For example, DB[1..7],A[0..7],RST,IN .... and press OK. With

the NET command active click on the bus.  All names will become

available to select. I hope the attachments helps.

The trick is to have a net wire connected to the netname label Xref and then group and copy both.  If only the label is copied, then a line is drawn from it back to its origin net as it is moved around, indicating I suppose that it is associated/locked to that net..

I too observe that if the grouped label and net wire stub is initially moved such that the end of the stub contacts a pin, that connection is not actually made.  That can be observed by moving the pin or its component-there is no connection.  But moving the pin back so it contacts the end of the stub does result in the connection being made.  Alternatively, the initial placement can be made without contacting the pin and then the pin or its component moved so they do connect.

The connectivity can be confirmed in the board layout.

Since a number of suggestions are appearing here (Not quite what the

suggest forum is for) here is another approach.

Enter in the command line, 'Net' and the name of the net you would like

all over the place. Let's call it CLK

NET CLK  and place an xref label directly.

Now you have two command preloaded in the command line so use multiple

up arrows to get the particular one you need.

The nets are named with the desired name as you place them rather than

going back and renaming them later.
