Can't connect SMD pads

Former Member

I designed my schematic using all SMD parts, but when I switched over to the board, I can't connect the air wires when manually routing. When I run the auto route, it connects the pads without a problem, but I much more prefer to run manual routing. If I add in through hole components, it connects the pads without an issue as well. I've made sure the trace starts over the pad, and connects over the other pad, but the air wire doesn't go away (even after cleaning up the rats nest) . When I highlight the net, it highlights the pads but not the trace, even though both the pads and trace are on the same layer. Any suggestions?

When you select the routing tool and click near the center of an SMD

pad with an air wire going to it, what happens?  Normally the selected

air wire is highlighted.  If the cursor turns into a four-pointed

arrow (up, down, right, left) that means Eagle is not sure which

starting point you mean because you are close to more than one

starting point.  In that case you might have to right-click until the

desired air wire and pad is highlighted.  Then you can left-click and

    begin routing.

Make sure you're using the "route" command rather than the "wire"

command, either through the action toolbar or command interface.
