Eagle 5.5 Autoroute

Former Member
Former Member over 16 years ago

I have an existing board design that auto-routes fine with v5.4, but only

routes to 96% with v5.5

Same board... no changes.

This has forced me to revert back to v5.4

The board is fairly large (7.5x3.5 inches) with 1 100pin QLFP chip and a few

other 14/16pin SMT chips.

I have been using Eagle for several years with much more complex designs

(BGA,etc.) but I can't seem to get this fairly simple board to auto-route

with 5.5

Are there any settings in 5.5 that are more 'sensitive' than in 5.4?

Thanks

Peter

Compare the DRC and Autorouter rules between the different instances of

5.4 and 5.5 . You are able to save the settings for both of these and

import them into v5.5 . Make sure you save the original v5.5 rules !

If v5.5 routes 100%, you may want to see what values differ between the

    v5.4 and v5.5 rules.- ted

Looks like a bug has crept into version 5.5 that causes this.

    We're currently debugging it...

    Hi Klaus,

Would this issue have anything to do with getting this error:

"Invalid data in autorouter block of file:  Continue with default autorouter

    settings?"

I am using EAGLE 5.4, generating CAM output from a customer's file (unknown

    format).

Or is this due to the new 'Follow Me' mode for the ROUTE command?

    Thanks,

    Terri

Nop, it's because your customer used Eagle 5.5 to save the file, and you are

    using 5.4.

At least that the reason I get this message

Files edited with version 5.5 have a new section "Follow-me" in the

Autorouter setup, which version 5.4 can't handle. That's why this

message is given. If you only generate CAM data, you can safely

    ignore this message.

This will be our next beta version, which will become available shortly.

It will be announced in eagle.betatest.

I have downloaded and tested v5.5.1

I have tried 2 boards that autoroute 100% in v5.4

Both boards did not autoroute ok.

One autorouted to 97.3%, the other slighly better.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
