Is there anyway to exclude parts from the PCB

Former Member

In Eagle Cad, is there anyway to exclude components on the schematic from the board view? I have several parts that will be wired to screw terminals. They still need to be shown in the schematic, but I do not need or want them on the board. I can't leave them outside the board area, so what's a guy to do? Thanks...

Still not seeing any attachment to download....

You can get to the attachment at the Stratford Digital EAGLE Central site.

All the cool EAGLE kids hang out there instead of at Element14:

GOT IT!  After looking at the sample library, I figured out what I was doing wrong... Instead of adding _EXTERNAL_ as the attribute, I was adding EXTERNAL - without the underscores. Makes all the difference in the world!  Thanks for all of your help guys image

Hello Jorge. I wonder if you could point me to some documentation that helps me to remove the package as explained. I have made a copy of the component in my own library but return an error when I try to remove its package. ????

Perhaps I'm missing something, but if you have a panel mounted volume

control, you still need pads on the PCB to solder the wires that are

    soldered to the volume control.

posting a totally unrelated question into a old tread from april 2015

    won't do you any good.

    Hi Mark,

I hope you're doing well. As Lorenz has pointed out, it's best to start

a new thread when you have a new question. However, I know Element14

doesn't make that easy for new users. In the future it might be easier

for you to use the forum mirror here:

    http://eaglecentral.ca/

Now on to your problem. EAGLE will not let you delete a package if it is

associated with a device. So the first thing you have to do it open the

device that uses that package. Remove the package from the device by

first clicking on the connect button at the bottom right of the device

editor. Undo all of the connections. Then you'll be able to delete the

package from the device and ultimately from the library if you so wish.

    hth,

    Jorge Garcia
