Is there anyway to exclude parts from the PCB

@CadSoft Guest -> I have seen kicad in the repositories, but I've never tried playing with it. I may try that this weekend as well.

No, you're not the troll. "Poll-was Poll-was" is a persistent troll who

hasn't kept up to date. See Jorge's reply (which you now have). I don't

think it's overly intensive and it's the right way to handle the

specific issue you began with. This half of the discussion got

side-tracked onto a different issue.

OK... I'm sorry, call me stupid, but I am not following this. I appreciate the replies, but the two most useful (I think) on editing properties seem to assume that I already know how to do what I am asking. I figured out how to open a Library (the LED library for starters). That brought me up to a blank slate. From there, I figured out how to load the SFH482 component - which gave me the drawing of it. That's were I veered off the road. I cannot figure out how to add an attribute for External.

I did add the EXTERNAL attribute to the component from the schematic view, but since there is still a package....

SFH482 as an example.

The library contains a copy of the original part from the eagle

library and a 'no package' derivative thereoff.

Let's see, if that gets you going (perhapse with the help of the eagle

manual and some tutorials on part creation 8-)

If not, I'll try to find the time to write up the required steps.

Hi Derek,

Download the library to your computer and make sure you know where it

is. From there go into the EAGLE Control Panel and click File> Open >

Library. Select the Library you downloaded and you should be good.

Reach out if there's anything else you need.
