Renaming a component error

pavanbabut
pavanbabut over 10 years ago

I have a schematic and board that I am going through the names of components. The problem I am having is whenever I try to delete a component in my case a cap (ex: C21) and then replace it with a different type cap, it changes its name to C00021 rather than C21 and when I try to rename it to C21 it gives me error that the component already exists, but when I try 'Show' command it doesn't show it and when I try to Show it on board, it says 'doesn't exist'. Very frustrating, I have few components that I want to replace with different type and its doing for all those.

Any ideas or suggestions?

thanks

What version and locale are you using?

Did you try 'show @ C21" in both sch and brd?

Eagle 6.5.0 standard and when I use Show command, it just pops up a dialog with C21 in there in schematic and it does nothing when I click it and when I use the same command in Board, it gives me error that C21 is no found.

Sounds like C21 is a funny cap with no footprint, but then again, it

    should be visible...

Did you try to type "delete c21" from sch? Then "show c21" again? If its

gone, do ERC to make sure you have consistancy.

Actually I used C21 as an example, it does the same on any component. Yes I did delete command and then tried show command with same results.

I think we can conclude that your files are corrupt, and that Eagle is

not able to repair it. Im sure someone at cadsoft could fix it for you

    if its important.
