Making a pad with rectangular hole in a package when creating my own part.  How?

unebonnevie

Hi,

I am creating a part (an SPDT switch) that an anchor pin which is 2mm wide.

When creating the package for this part, EagleCAD has pad but with circular

drill hole.  How would I make the rectangular hole, in this case, 2mmx0.5mm?

Thanks.

I think you should draw a rectangular on milling layer.

of course, the pad is needed.

I has been asked factory. generally, "if a hole on pad, they will make a

    through hole".

so you should better tell the factory, where need special hole.

Why bother?  Unless a 2mm hole would interfere with something else, just

    use that.

    Hi,

what Olin intended to express: As long as you can live with 2mm holes

instead of milling a 2 x .5 mm slot, you should do so. Drilling is much

cheaper than ordering extra (and plated) milling at the pcb manufacturer.

Use only milling if this is the only way to get the part onto the pcb. I

    would recommend that, too.

    Carsten
