    Hello,

I am new to Eagle and I am having trouble getting Net Classes to work. I specify a new class and its attributes but they are not used by the auto router. All signals are routed using the defaults in the design rules.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello dtlinker,

In my own library, I created AVR XMEGA A4 in the MLF packages (one regular, one - for manual assembly, with extended pads).

I can send you the library by e-mail.

        My e-mail: lev.freidin@bsci.com. My phone (805)-750-0665 cell.

            Best regards,

                   Lev.

    Hi,

EAGLE offers the PCB service function. This means an User Language Program collects all the necessary data the board manufacturer needs in order to send you a quotation. Currently the element14 partner is Pentalogix.  For details about them please check http://www.pentalogix.com/

    Concerning designlink:

EAGLE takes the value of your component as the search string. Depending on this it can happen that the results are more or less accurate. But you always have the possibility to do a manual search. Especially for resistors I recently learned that it is good to use the value in the Newark/Farnell usual syntax and the package type, e.g. 0603.

Just tried   100k  0603   and got good results.

Concerning XMEGA: Did not find it immediately. I'ld recommend to contact one of your local offices. I think they can help you.....

    Regards,

    Richard

What are the capabilities of the PCB manufacturing through element14? I have a 2 layer flexboard design.

Also, it seemed as if the parts available through designlink were limited, and what comes up is somewhat random. For example, I hahve a 100K  resistor in 0603 package, and the search comes up with fuses, thermistors and capacitors! For a 590K resistor in 0603 package, it comes up with aluminum instrument enclosures!

I am using an AVR XMEGA A4 in the MLF package, and it looks like the site only has the TQFP package.

    Any work-arounds?

    Thanks

    Hello TDominik,

In  EAGLE 4.16r2, Windows XP  I did not find tools to make non-standard pads.

So, I did exactly what you did, but I placed real small pad into the middle of the slot,

to be able to connect trace to it. The same for SMD, only polygon has to be cupper.

Or you can use just thick wire instead of polygon. PAD and SMD allow you to connect

traces to your cupper layers (any layer for PAD and top layer for SMD).

You will get multiply DRC errors: for PAD - "Layer Abuse", for SMD - "Clearance".

    But it works.

In case of PAD, drill has to fit into slot completely, because manufacturer

can brake the drill bit if hole appear on the edge of the milling.

          Lev.

    Hello Richard,

I hope you can help me.
I need to create a custom pad.  The pad needs to be a rectangular slot.  I tried to modify an existing pad with no success. Second attempt, I created a layer 17 (pad) polygon and added a smaller layer 47 (Milling) polygon on top of it plus the stop layers.  This looks like a pad but Eagle is not recognizing it.  What it the best solution?

    Regards.

    Hi Jose Luis,

the sessions are recorded and publicly available. Actually I do not have the links available here at this computer, but I will post them as soon as possible.

*** Just got the information that we plan to make the videos available on our web site (cadsoft.de). So we have to wait a bit until this will be realized. ***

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

I registrered in a webinar last May (CadSoft EAGLE Advanced - Multi-Layer-Boards (English)) but I couldn't participe in it. There are a video about this seminar or similar? Are you going to repeat the webinar?

    Best regards,

    Jose Luis.
