    Hi Richard,

     

    I think that you may have miss read what I am trying to achieve.  The pad is to connect a 22 gauge wire to the PCB.

    Hi again,

     

    you could define the pad diameter for the resistors in the library first, save the library file and use Library/Update in the Layout/Editor. So the resistors will be updated with the packages with bigger pads.

    I am totaly new to PCB design. In the wirepad library, I see a THROUGH-HOLE pad identified as 2,54/0,8; what is the interpretation of these numbers?  I am trying to place a wire pad to connect a 22 gauge wire (diameter .635mm or 0.025").  I have in the past placed a 0.04" hole.

    I didn't decide on this values by some calculations, just tried and decide on whether the result is what i am looking for. And for this values the IC pads are ok. However pads for resistors and capacitors are not big enough for me. Because of this i am looking for a way to make bigger only some pads (resistor and capacitor pads).

     

    Meanwhile, select option on the DRC main window, for what i can use it? It is not similiar to rooting select option.

    Hello Ahmet,

     

    the restring settings are valid for all pads in the layout. What are the settings you are using for your pads.

    The width of the copper ring around the drilling is calculated in dependence of the drill diameter. But you can use equal values for minimum and maximum value, so that the width of  copper ring is always the same.

    Hi, i need help about DRC rules. I prepare my circuits by using some hobby electronic techniques. And I'm using ofcourse eagle to draw them. However, when I change the DRC rules, especially the RESTRING option it changes the dimensions of all the component pads. And these are not equally the same for all of them. For example, the IC pads becomes much bigger than a resistor pad. And this is my problem. Is there any way to change only ressitor and capacitor pads. I know i can put extra via pads from the main BOARD window.

    Thanks, actually i figured it out with some tinkering. I didn't realize that it mirrored about an axis on the end, but when i did i couldn't move and mirror in the same step at first. I finally tried right clicking on it and went into properties and set the position for the axis for after i mirrored it and clicked the mirror radio box. Thanks for your consideration.

    Hi Jared,

     

    Send the board to support@cadsoftusa.com, I'll take a look at it. As a preliminary question, is the board oriented in such way so that it's largest direction is from left to right? The EAGLE size limitation is strictly 4" x 3", if you make a 3" x 4" board EAGLE won't allow you to place components at the very top of the board.

     

    See if this is perhaps your situation.

    Hi Mike,

     

    1) There are a few ways to do this, but I think the easiest way is to:

     

    A. Open the library you want to copy into

    B. In the Control Panel find the package(symbol or Device)  you wish to copy and right-click

    C. In the cursor menu, select copy to library and you're done.

     

    As an extra hint, you'll find that the majority of standard packages are included in the ref-packages.lbr, so whenever you need a specific package check that library first.

     

    2) Remember that in EAGLE all connections are defined by name. In order to make a split power plane, you're going to use the POLYGON command. The polygon command allows you generate copper fills on the board. Once you've drawn the two fills you can use the INFO command to set the polygon properties and the NAME command to identify which net the copper pour will belong too.
