Importing DXF Alters Board Shape

Importing a DXF for use as a custom polygon pour is altering my board shape (making it smaller).  It isn't changing the outline layer.  Any ideas?

I didn't manage to reproduce that behaviour but I have raised a ticket with Altium to take a look as this does seem like a bug.

That's an interesting one. Are you saying just running a DXF import (and nothing else) is altering the board outline (as seen in 3D view)?

Correct.  Importing a DXF, selecting the units and selecting "OK" changes the board shape.   I tried it a number of times and most of the time I couldn't "CTRL-Z" to undo, a few times I could.  Very strange.

If you want to send through the DXF I am more than happy to give it a try. Intrigued as to what could be happening.

Thanks for the file. I have managed to reproduce the issue as follows. Started a new PCB, defined a small 3D board outline and then imported the DXF file onto the Top Layer. The DXF had a large X,Y offset (well outside of the board outline I had drawn) and CircuitStudio did import the DXF but also extended the board outline to encompass the imported elements. I will check with Altium if there is a reason for expanding the board in this manner.

Ok, I've seen that issue and it may be related to what I'm asking about but my behavior is taking the original board shape and offsetting the board shape, not just drawing a large rectangle to encompass the DXF.

Both Altium and Element14 have investigated how DXF import affects the board shape and it is indeed interesting and quite varied. It is very surprising nobody has raised this before but in many cases it will just go unnoticed - maybe because people often import the board shape from DXF first and then never import again. The results do explain why you are probably seeing the board shape 'shrink' in that it's picking up on objects you have on the Keep-Out Layer. Here's a link to the new knowledge base article.
