camera for zero?

I am just got my first Pi, a zero, and I have a few questions about using cameras with Pis.

1. Can a USB camera be used with the Pi Zero? Would this arrangement work with OpenCV?

2. I'm assuming a USB camera can be used with the other Pis, even though there is the special CIS port. Does the CIS port have any special properties that make a camera attached to it better than a USB camera? Or else why would it be included on the Pis?

You will be able to use any device on the USB port as long as it is supported with the specific version of the OS (Lightly Jessie Debian Linux... "Raspbian"), though I would recommend a powered USB HUB be used to limit the power drawn through the PI Zero
