Already commented on the Birthday page, if this thing is the upgrade I'm expecting, I will swear off PCs for any home systems.

With that amount of CPU power, I could use it for image processing and analysis for my research projects.

I will be looking for someone to port OpenCV onto it so that I can process the images.

Just as a kind prodding...

The word "open" in OpenCV refers to open source. It should be possible to go to the site (probably via SourceForge) and get a source copy and then do a build on the Pi. Very often, it is done with a make; make install; operation. I'm pretty sure the GCC compiler is already included in the Raspbian installation.

To DAB:
WRT your research project [Image processing/analysis], why OpenCV? And not something like MatLab? Aside from the $$$ issue. If it is an Educational Institution sponsored Project ? would your choice of using OpenCV be the same?

Whoa partner! The driver code for the BLE is not ready in Raspbian according to fine print.

Cost and capability drive most of my decisions.
I am currently doing my own research, though it would be nice if I could get some university sponsorship.

I have seen Matlab used for image processing and it is quite capable, but I have also seen that it takes a fair amount of time to learn and use effectively.

I believe that OpenCV is both capable and being free is a very good place to start.

If there was a better solution, I would certainly look into it.
