I've been working on a case in lego - it's cheap, tough and expandable. I'm looking at using lego itself to clamp the Raspberry Pi board in place (or using the sugru setting rubber stuff - although I want the pi to be removable)
Big advantage is that if the Pi is bigger than my estimation I can adjust the case easily. Also worth considering if you want to add the Gertboard add-on to the GPIO pins at a later date.
