Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a case for the Model B?
I gather Farnell/Element14 are going to start selling cases for the Pi soon.
Anyone know what they will look like, or estimated costs?
As mentioned earlier, the style of a Pi 'enclosure' is quite a personal thing. Some user are quite happy with something made out of Lego, other will adapt a 'box' they already have, while other will prefer to spend a few pounds (or whatever) on a smart custom designed case.
Looking at the 'Bud' ones shown above, the Sandwich is not my cup of tea at all, although the Pi Plate does look interesting. I have to confess being quite a fan of the latest offerings from ModMyPi, and a couple of designers from France and Italy also have some attractive options being (or to be) sold on Shapeways, although these do tend to be rather expensive unfortunately.... although very smart!
Other are now starting to appear on eBay, and of course we are still waiting to hear more about the ones which Farnell (and the 'other' distributor also) will be offering.
The way things are going at the moment, I can see myself ordering at least two!
I'm interested that the ModMyPi people, despite their earlier stout defence of 3D printing, now say (on their website) that their cases will be injection moulded. (Quote: "Injection Moulding is an incredibly efficient mode of production").

I have a feeling that they (ModMyPi) received a lot more orders than expected, which didn't really make 3D printing a time (and probably cost!) effective option.
The do seem to be offering a fairly priced and attractive product though.
I believe ModMyPi got too many orders... 3D printing costs a lot of time
Costs is just the energy and the plastic, so about 1 euro a piece... if you don't count the cost of the 3D printer
Someone printed my case on thingiverse , tweaked some settings, and put a Pi in it...
