RPi Cases!

Hi!

More questions to see what everyone else is planning!

CASES?!?!?!

As most people will have spent quite some time wondering about how they are going to enclose their nice new RPi, I was curious what ideas other people had come up with!

My plan-

One of the Ice-Blue (or IR Red) 2 part project enclosures (get too see that nice lil POP tower) with the RPi mounted on the bottom

USB hub stripped down and mounted on the top. (to one side, deep sockets being for permanently attached devices- WiFi / USB Key / Bluetooth / Wireless Keyboard & Mouse, shallow ones for

Sides of enclosure drilled and filed down to give access to the connector sockets.

Power from mains to USB adaptor, with power adapter spliced in to give power to both USB hub and RPi (alternate idea with power going into hub, then out to RPi to keep connections to a minima)

Some sort of mount to a VESA plate on the back of the TV (Torn between magnets, and some sort of slide to lock and attach)

Hopefully the end result will provide good protection, look good, be easy to attach and remove from a VESA mount, have minimum connections to hook up (ideally just power and HDMI with everything else being semi-included in the packaging) and be easy to add functionality too at a later stage.

Only puzzle I've got at the moment is how best to mount something without mounting holes!

What are other peoples ideas for cases?

In honor of the Day One buying frenzy, I think I'll put mine in a Teddy Ruxpin or a Tickle-Me Elmo :-)

There will probably be low-cost official plastic cases available by the time my unit ships.

No, I was just being gamesome.  I thought it would speak to the buying frenzy when RasPi first came out.  Teddy Ruxpin was the toy one Christmas in the USA and was really hard to get.

I have a RasPi Model B with rev 1.0 PCB so it would definitely overhead inside a stuffy animal.  Did you ever see my open-frame vertical mount?  Great way to get passive cooling on both sides of the board.  Morgaine said: "OMG, you get a 500-point bonus for using the composite video out as a mounting lug!"
