Ship dates?

e14 Contributor

So I just checked into my account online, and under Ship Date, for the Pi I ordered on 29 Feb., it says "30 March". I know there was some confusion over ship dates early on, so thought I'd ask - is this ship date shown in my account roughly accurate? I would be oh so happy to receive my Pi in a couple weeks.

I placed my order on 3rd March and the delivery date has been moved backwards twice since then via email, My last email from Farnell was yesterday and stated :

Congratulations - Farnell element14 will deliver your Pi to you around mid May.

There was bound to be some problems I was sure from my own excitment that Pi.org would underestimate demand, But I guess we are the people riding the tidal wave of a new computing era and I for one am going to sit and wait and hope it all works great when it finally arrives.

To the rest of you all waiting out there in Pi-land, good luck I hope yours arrives soon.

    Ray

    Ray,

Really glad to hear you got some positive response from Farnell (any response would be good).

I think it would be a wonderful proposition to have a Farnell rep give a brief overview on how they are planning to distribute future batches. I say this because if what you are saying is true, you have delivery date for an order placed 4 days after some other people here who don't have delivery dates yet.

I guess there can be many reasons for differening delivery dates. Yes I'm in the UK and have been a fairly regular customer of Farnell since long before the RaspberryPi. It may also depend on credit or debit card used. I confess I don't have a clue how Farnell or RS order systems work.

I@m sure because of all the scrutiny they are all working together to be as fair as possible to all the customers who have placed orders. I dont see any advantage for Farnell, RS or RPi if all the early customers are badly serviced.

I expected a huge amount of interest at launch but I confess to being suprised that the little gizmo that I was waiting for was more newsworthy than Lady Gaga image so I expected some problems and delays. Then the ethernet port issues came up, At least it was caught before shipping to us.

Its a charity effort at the base guys and Farnell and RS are probably barely breaking even on the deal.

Good luck to us all including Farnell RS and RPi and may the future be bright and fruitful. image
