Ship dates?

So I just checked into my account online, and under Ship Date, for the Pi I ordered on 29 Feb., it says "30 March". I know there was some confusion over ship dates early on, so thought I'd ask - is this ship date shown in my account roughly accurate? I would be oh so happy to receive my Pi in a couple weeks.

I've preordered mine the very first day as it was launched. I did it in Taiwan (element14 tw location) and I didn't get any feedback from them until now. There is no email or any kind of notification about the possible date. So many words about how Raspberry Pi will help to learn coding and help people in their projects, but from what I see, there are just only bla-bla-bla and no real hardware in hands. I may advertise a computer with cost of $2 and beat Raspberry Pi, as nobody gets both. Sorry for this expression of disappointment. It was the biggest one within the whole year. Hope there will be some notification to estimate, if it is better to reorient my projects for more expensive hardware, rather wait too long.

I recommend examining chicken entrails or reading the tea leaves.  This will provide you with a far more accurate time estimate than anything forthcoming from RS, Farnell, or the Foundation currently.

The lack of informed, consistent and authoritative information has been nothing but appalling.  Slippage is perfectly understandable, problems like the RJ45 connector are not uncommon, but that's not been the problem here.  The problem has been wholesale misinformation from the Foundation and lack of the slightest consistency in responses from the two distributors.

I've never seen a shambles anything like this before, and I've been in this game a long time.

On the positive side:  the news that the boards are being put through full certification is extremely good.  The reason why it's good is because it indicates that they really do intend to manufacture in large volumes, and that's the only thing that will end this disaster:  building millions of units.  That said, there is even misinformation about certification, because the Foundation claims that the distributors are doing it, and the distributors say that the Foundation is doing it.  It's just so typical of how badly this project is being run.

When both companies have thousands of units *IN STOCK* then the troubles will end, and not before.

    Morgaine.
