Thank you !!!!!!! I also check the read /write tab on card im up and running now I'm working on sound play in tv speaker not Bose yet but I will be getting an av cable and that should fix it for some reason hdmi does not connect in bose but tv works great !!!!

If your bose system is an older one and you use the VC-2 HDMI board then be aware that it doesnt support audio over HDMI. I recently discovered this myself after trying for a few days. Bose recomends using SPdif for the audio to go with the HDMI input. But this is only for the older lifestyle systems.

Just realised that there is no spdif on the pi. No problem the 3.5mm audio jack to RCA will be fine. Just make sure you plug the RCA jacks into the correct input you are using on the lifestyle box itself. You may need to select the analog audio input under system settings on the Bose if I remember correctly but you should be good to go.

You should get both left and right. At one end you have a stereo 3.5 and the other is two RCA a red and a white. Plug both of these RCA into the Bose (red and white sockets) and it should work great. If you are watching video's you may have to adjust the audio delay on the Bose too.

Stereo will work, but it will sound awful (just an opinion) or barely adequate. It's hard to connect up analog audio from a board and expect the sound to be hum-free and noise-free. Unfortunately, I think you may need a USB audio soundcard for any decent sound (some have digital outputs) or try to find a way with HDMI. I understand you may not want to use USB because you'll also be using the network, but in this case you may be ok (assuming the USB soundcard is compatible), because the audio file gets buffered locally (or it should) before playback occurs for media files on your LAN. If you're streaming from the Internet, the bitrate may be low so you'll be fine.

I was thinking of a usb sound card right now I have it bypassing my Boise and going into my Tv with hdmi it works but would like to see it I can get better sound thank you for your input
