My give away for the deserving member!!

dwinhold
dwinhold over 11 years ago

Hi Everyone,

I have been chosen to road test the PiRack and found myself buying lots of expansion boards... etc. and now have to many for what I need. I would like to GIVE the few extras to a deserving member. The items include:

1 - PiRack

1 - Bread Board power supply

1 - 8x8 color matrix

1 - Raspberry Pi Expansion Evaluation Development Board Various Interface

1 - 2" LED screen

1 - WIFI Dongle (For a RPI)

1 - Distance sensor

1 - Mini bread board

1 - Rx and Tx transmitter

1 - Stepper motor and controller

1 - Smoke sensor

Sorry, the Raspberry Pi isn't included.

Please post why you should be chosen to receive this kit in a couple of sentences and I will pick (not at random) who will receive the parts. Make the reason funny, entertaining, serious but be original. I will be having my family help decide.

Since the parts are extra and it is a gift to who wins, this is how it is shipped (as a gift). Shipping is paid so no cost to the winner.

Any questions? Please ask!!

Decision date is Oct 20th, 2013 - No set time

Dale, that is very generous of you to give all that away.  Hope it goes to a good home.

I could use all that gear to compatibility test my open source HDL educational add-on board.

    See it here:

    https://github.com/Guzunty/Pi/wiki

I'm sure some of them will inspire some new wonderful combinations of different boards too!

    best,

    Derek

I am a retired professor and I like to spend time with my little grandson, 8 yrs old, doing projects and learning about the Raspberry and the Arduino.  Your benevolence would be appreciated times 2!

    Hi Dale Winhold:

I became disabled about 7-8 years ago.   I live alone now.   I had to quit all my sports and activities because of my disability.   So I decided to buy a Raspberry Pi for a hobby.   I am on a fixed income and cannot afford all the accessories,  so i try to save a little money every so often to buy something.   I like sharing it with a friend that seems interested in how it works.   I am currently trying to get a servo motor to work using Python.    No Luck Yet   image

The accessories that you graciously are offering would help me tremendously.

    Sincerely,  Chuck Smith

Have you tried using servoblaster? You can get it here: https://github.com/richardghirst/PiBits/tree/master/ServoBlaster.

    to Dale Winhold :

    From : Chuck ( sonny ) smith

I was interested in your accessories that you had offered !!  very much.

One thing I did not say was that I had contacted one of the R-pi educational people telling them that there is a local Vocational school nearby me,, and was thinking of creating a small class to teach the basics of computers,, using the R-pi as a base,,, since it is a cheap way to go.   The accessories may help to give me a kick start !!  if ya know what i MEAN  image

    Sincerely, Chuck Smith

    Hello everyone,

Just with what I see so far I know the decision will be very hard. I have gone through all my collection and have come up with more. Enough to give away to 2 members. But the second will be Arduino.

In this one I will include:

    1 - Arduino (UNO)

    1 - LCD screen

3 - Sensors (Not decided which ones)

    1 - Mini bread board

1 - Bread board power supply

    1 - 8x8 color matrix

1 - Stepper motor and controller

    1 - Servo

There may be other things added, but the above is definite. This note includes both giveaways.

I am doing this giveaway because of the help Element 14 members have given me and I feel privileged to be able to give back this way. I feel this is the least I can do to share with everyone.

I want to personally thank each and every member for their sharing of knowledge!!!

    Dale Winhold

    Extra note added:

In both packages I have added lasers and some real fun IC's.

I will also include randomly in one of the packages a:

    HEWLETT-PACKARD 6870BTXXXAC TOMAHAWK MAIN BOARD ASSEMBLY P/N: 6870BT300AC

Picture is attached - I have 2 so I figure I'll share one - They run Windows CE
