I have heard that Raspberry Pi4 can be USB booted or via the network. Also, seen a few posts on people doing it. How exactly can I do it? I tried and it didn't work on a generic procedure.

NGU, did a recent post where he provided a reference to USB boot that he said worked for him. I don't want to take any of his credit for the post he made in Alsa no audio (glitch) issue Pi 4 fix He provided the following link https://tynick.com/blog/05-22-2020/raspberry-pi-4-boot-from-usb/ I bookmarked the page because it is something I might try.
It worked perfectly with Raspbian for me. Subsequently, I moved on to Ubuntu 64-bit so I am going to wait for the Ubuntu release to catch up (they have pressure!). In the meantime, I am keeping the MicroSD installed just for the boot.
Ubuntu Server 64-bit with the Xubuntu desktop is excellent. Highly recommended!

Great follow-up RE. I took note of your post and had hoped you would chime in for NGU and provide some commentary.
