Python and a synthesiser

kidiccurus

Is there any way to use python with a synthesiser programming on the raspberry pi? Ideally I'd like to use the synthesisers built into sonic pi but this does not seem possible. If it is not possible then is there a basic tone generator I can interface with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is some support for Sonic Pi via the command line (https://github.com/Widdershin/sonic-pi-cli), so your python script could interface with Sonic Pi that way.  The link claims Official command line support is planned for Sonic Pi 3.0.

Thank you, that could be what I need. I have an alternative under development now, but if there is a V2, I will go this route.

My "alternative route" is using a microcontroller for the midi via a USB adaptor and then using a standard midi synth on the pi. I had midi working on my prototype when hooked up to a midi keyboard and I have some PCBs in the post at the moment.
