If you have a Windows 7 laptop available, try this Networking 101 and Raspberry Pi 2 Otherwise what connections do you have on the RCA TV?
the connectors are the yellow red and white i tested the adapter cord with a multimeter and they are wired correctly
Have you read the page suggested by michaelwylie yet?
yah i am really new to this and most of it went over my head i just want to use the tv as a monitor
did you use NOOBS to load Raspbian?
ok so reading it for the 3rd time i understand i have to set it up with hdmi and change in the settings right?
yes i loaded it from a factory SD card from makershed
Yes, you could connect via HDMI and make the necessary configuration changes. Alternatively you could write a default Raspbian image directly to the card, which seems to auto-sense the input.
ok thanks i will try thathanks for all the help
