raspberry display touch screen configuration

AbysSquaaa

Hello,
I have a raspberry pi3 b+ connected via an AWM cable with a 7 inch raspberry display. I have a devuan OS present on the raspberry with which I launch an x server (startx) to then launch software with an interface. I would like my screen to be touch-sensitive. How do I configure it so that it is?

    Hi !

Is the 7 inch display touch sensitive ? What OS are you using ? the official Raspbian OS ? With the Raspbian OS is automatic - if you connect with a DSI cable .Do you use the overlay (if the official display?)

Please tell us what brand and model number 7 inch screen you bought. Do you have a part number?  The people here are very helpful so more information could help to answer your question. Do you have a photo you can provide?

Hi, yes, the screen is touch-sensitive. I'm currently using the devuan OS (derived from debian but no interface).

The raspberry model is the 7" Touchscreen Dipsplay. I don't have a part number or I don't know where to find it. I've attached the photos.imageimageimage

I know the official raspberry pi OS detects and the touch interface works out of the box.

I'm guessing it's something with that OS that you're using.

You should see the documentation for that OS .

I can't know, but I will see anyb documentation for X regarding touch interfaces.

Are you sure it's being detected?

Have you tried, for sake of dismissing hardware problems and to confirm it's a software issue, use the official raspberry pi OS and see if it works? Just try it

The Raspberry Pi 7" Touch Screen enables its touch interface either solely over the DSI ribbon cable, or it can do so via its i2c protocol interface which it has separate connections for.

To get it working in whatever operating system you're using, you'll need the appropriate modules loaded to get it working.

The touch screen driver is effectively this:

    https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-5.10.y/drivers/input/touchscreen/edt-ft5x06.c

    and to some extent this:

    https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-5.10.y/drivers/gpu/drm/panel/panel-raspberrypi-touchscreen.c

You may need kernel level driver compiled support if it's not in mainstream.

Quick suggestion - load up the most recent version of rasberry pi os and try it.  If the touchscreen works with that, you'll have to dig into what software updates need to be added to your preferred distribution. If it doesn't work, you might have a hardware problem.
