Help Testing Relay

 HBPhillie  I don't know which one you have but that relay comes in two formats, one mounts through-hole (soldered), and the other is spade terminals maybe plugged into a socket.

If you are lucky and they are socketed you can always swap them. start at 1 swap it with 2, test, no swap to original. then swap 1 with 3, and the beet goes on. ~!~ Good Luck Cris

They are soldered on the 6600-087 PCB. When swapping always mark the original placement. 

Correct, they are soldered.  

If you want to go the swap and try way be prepared to strip the whole board of its coating.

 anniel747  HBPhillie Hey life is not fair then you are stuck!! The world sometimes gives you onions!!  too bad, now you have to turn them all on and measure the standing voltage across the relay coils when the unit is ON. vs resistance when OFF,  you are looking for one coil that is out of range. according to the datasheet, a 12v coil has a resistance of 86 ohms. you are looking for one coil that is out of range or open. 

Coils never go bad on those relays.

Thank you.  When you look at the data sheet my coil appears to be the one on the right... there are 2 pins on the one right, one left... at the other end are 2 sets of 2 pins each (total or 4 pins) ... I say 'pins' but each pin has 2 solder points so a total of 6 pins each with 2 points projecting thru the board to be soldered.  I know this doesn't sound very 'technical' but I don't know the correct terminology .   I know that if I understand which pin is which... I can unsolder these (unless I can test them on the board), I can rig up a 12 volt power supply and I can read the resistance at the switch ends.  what I'm missing is an understanding of which pin is which.

Do you have a mΩ meter?

If you cannot do a voltage check on the relays in place, I'm going to encourage that you remove the relays from the PCB to bench test them.  I have released the magic smoke by trying to power stuff in place.  Some things don't like to be backfed.  The unlabeled pins on the graphic are your contacts.

Removing the relays is really messy and the two SM are clear on the testing procedures.
