Xilinx Vitis software platform

It's not out just yet, but Xilinx Vitis platform looks interesting. It sounds a bit like a replacement for Vivado HLS, but with a bit of Pynq thrown in. Apparently Vivado not's going away though.

Leverage integration with high-level frameworks, develop in C, C++, or Python using accelerated libraries or use RTL-based accelerators & low-level runtime APIs for more fine-grained control over implementation

I suppose we'll have to wait until the end of November to really find out.

No, Vivado isn't going away. But Vitis will not require hardware experience at all. It will plug into common developer tools. It's meant to make the developing process easier.

    Hi David.

I'm at the Xilinx Developers Forum this week. During the keynote address, they made a big announcement on Vitis, described as their unified software platform that was years in the making. It will make development easier and faster when it's rolled out. I'll be getting some content on Vitis in the near future.

It would be nice if they fix Vivado, I'ts crazy how the IDE being 7 years old is still so full of bugs.
