We have the aes-ku040-db-g board and are using vivado 2019.1. In vivado, we are selecting the part number XCKU040 FBVA676 -1-c for our application project. Our application deals with writing to and reading from on board DDR4 using DDR4 MIG controller. To instantiate the MIG controller, we are facing this issue that the DDR4 interface can operate at a clock speed of anything between 625MHz to 933.7 MHz. The MIG IP demands a user interface clock which is one fourth(1/4) of the DDR4 interface clock.
Here comes the issue. The only source of clock on this board is the oscillator crystal which is 250MHz and this does not meet the requirement of being 1/4th of the DDR4 interface clock. We intend to hence change the crystal to support other clock frequencies. Is this advisable? Or is there any alternative? We assume that the 4:1 ratio is absolute.
Can someone advise what can be done?
