Lattice MachX02

on7ami

Hello,

On my quest for a powerful but using simple hardware environment FPGA I discovered the MachX02. Nice development- and break out boards (even one pluggable on the Raspberry PI) and a free powerful IDE-developers environment.

But... very little literature documenting the possibility's on using the build in hardware interfaces (I2C, UART, timers and other embedded function blocks) making the chips very attractive.

If someone knows good resources on getting information on them please post them here.

Greets,

Jean Paul

Are you looking for something more than the two Lattice documents TN1246 and TN1205 ?

I think, apart from some examples, these are the official documentation for the "Hardened Control Functions" in the MachX02.

Do you have a specific problem ?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks a lot, the TN1205 was the one I was missing... The other documents give a lot of technical info on how the interfaces work bun I didn't find HOW to use them from within my VHDL. I'm new to the FPGA world, I'm a C/C++ C# programmer and the way of thinking in programmable logic is quite different.

What I want to realize is a number of counters comparing there counting result with a preset value and switching an output pin on the counting less than or more than the preset. So far I figured out in VHDL to make it work. Now I want to change the preset values using the I2C feature, and that's where I sailed into the smog... I think using the TN1205 will clear a few thing up.

If you ever have knowledge of an example code that would speed up my learning curve.

I know what to study en where to start experimenting ...

    Thanks

    JP

Good luck - I've used a lot of Lattice devices but not done a design with a MachX02. If you get stuck somewhere I'll try to help but I don't have any actual MachX02 stuff.
