ARM DesignStart soft core

I'm still a complete noob with FPGAs, but as part of my digging around I came across ARM's new DesignStart program. It appears to be a royalty free ARM M0 or M3 core for Altera and Xilinx FPGAs. I thought it might interest a few people here.

  • Very nifty.  The Register's article seems confused as to whether it's an M0 or M1.  IIRC, the M1 was the original Cortex-M part designed for FPGA implementation.  The M0 came later, as a minimalist Cortex-M with a tiny silicon footprint.  I've used it in a Cypress PSoC 4200 part.  I wonder how much FPGA resource get used by the M0.
