Shelly 1 interference with garage door remote

Hi all.

I'm having a problem with a shelly 1 and my garage door remote.

Recently I've connected my two garage door motors with shellys 1 .

One of them is working perfectly fine with the shelly safe inside the motor housing.

The other one, before the shelly, I was able to open the door with the remote from 10m-15m away (32 ft to 49 ft more or less). With the shelly connected, I'm only able to open the door with the remote, just from 5m (16ft) away.

The motor board is not the same - one is TE120 (working fine) and the other one is ATH10 (the situation described above).

One thing I did noticed was (the one where the distance was reduced), when I was testing, I had the shelly on a 10m (32ft) wire, rolled around an aluminum ladder on the wall and it was working fine. When I reduced the wire (to leave everything nice and tidy on the wall), this started to happen.

I use the same remote for both (different buttons) . I've switched the shellys - could it be a faulty one - but the problem remained.

Could a ferrite filter solve the problem ? Or at least attenuate some interference ?

Thank you

UPDATE: I new that shelly could be powered by 24v DC, so I've procured a 24v output - the green PINS bottom left of the pictures - and after searching why I wasn't able to power the shelly with 24v (it…

glad that it's OK now. When I had little children, the family on the other side of the street could not open their garage door when we had the baby-phone on. It took a while to make that connection…

The high speed trains between Amsterdam and Antwerp would randomly fail after crossing the Dutch-Belgian border. Software would lock up. Took a while to solve that too ...

Wouldn't adding a metallic shell around the ATH10 board be appropriate in this case?
I mean, it seems it's the one doing the interference, so maybe it radiates too much and a grounded shield would sufficiently attenuate the interference

they were remote controlled before and shelly reduced remote's range in one case? do you know where is receiver antenna installed? maybe module installation is obstructing the antenna, thus reducing range? what frequency is this remote?

the antenna is on the front. the shelly is on the back of the casing.  I don't know the frequencies.. It's very hard to find any informartion on the board. I can only find instructions on how to program it - no schematics or specifications...

feiticeir0 I did not find your Shelly board on the internet, however... if the wire closest the oscillator is your antenna, the lower picture appears to have a shorter one than the upper picture.  It's definitely a smaller gauge, but that shouldn't be of much impact.  Length does matter.  I would duplicate the length for the one that is operating correctly and try it on the other one.

    Hi,

A detailed diagram of the system could help immensely. Showing all the connections and supply wiring too, motor wiring, etc.

I'm not sure about the frequency. There's not much documentation that I could find - I'm guessing 868MHz

You are correct. Those wires are the antenna.

And the shorter one is the one working perfectly fine ! Smiley

I can try to shorter the other one and see ! Slight smile
