Design advice on a newbie project!

Hi,

brand new to this site and was looking for advise on starting a home project that:

- controls a gearmotor (or 2 if needed) that moves a flat object weighing <13ounces.

- controllable bi-directional motors (speed/duration)

- ability to control via internet

 

Looking for some direction/recommendations on what boards/controllers/gearmotors/gear size I should start looking at.

    Welcome to E-14. It sounds like you have an interesting project in mind. What is your background in electronics at this time? Are you looking to design something or are you looking for more of a snap together project. One thing that might be of interest would be to look at some of the design challenges that have been featured on the Forum to see if you can find some applicable technology for your project. If you want to get more specifics from the forum you will probably have to provide more details of what you are looking to do. In any case it is nice to have you on the forum and I will be watching this thread to see if I can be of any help.

    Hi John,

    thanks for the response!

    Since my background is mainly software, I've been experimenting of late with some of the launchpads/boosterpacks that are available. I figured that there were enough tools available that I could something plug together for what I am wanting to do, but getting started in the right direction with the right hardware would probably save me a lot of headache!
