Design advice on a newbie project!

Hi,

brand new to this site and was looking for advise on starting a home project that:

- controls a gearmotor (or 2 if needed) that moves a flat object weighing <13ounces.

- controllable bi-directional motors (speed/duration)

- ability to control via internet

 

Looking for some direction/recommendations on what boards/controllers/gearmotors/gear size I should start looking at.

    I just finished an IoT week project with Texas Instruments and I think covered off several of your requirements and can also suggest a few extras. The nice thing is this continues with your experience with TI Launchpads.

    I have not posted the accompanying blog posts yet but the videos will help I think

    • Using a CC3200 (Arm Cortex so loads of power and built in WIFI for connectivity)
    • Sharp96 Display for local view of Parameters
    • Controlling a Fan via a relay using GPIO
    • SMART GUI interface using a SMART device that can be available from anywhere
    • Using MQTT for central monitoring of Data (On the Cloud image )
    • Measuring Temperature as an example of environmental sensing.

     

    I will be adding to the TI Tuesday series each week and will be including Motor Control in one of the early ones.

     

    In the meantime you can look at the various TI motor control Booster packs available for Steppers as well as DC motors
