What's the dumbest thing you could sense and connect to the internet?

cstanton

At first, I thought "how about the internet of showers?" then realised monitoring of water consumption, moisture, bacteria levels, and general use was probably sensible.

Then I thought "what about shovels?" then I figured this is more like it, there's probably not a lot you could gain from connecting a capacitive sensor to a shovel, or detect soil humidity and acidity while you dig, or know you're digging into a pipe if you keep going, well, maybe I'm starting to actually convince myself it is sensible here.

This isn't working.

Someone convince me, what's the dumbest thing you could sense and connect to the internet? There's got to be something superfluous.

To be fair the question was.

what's the dumbest thing you could sense and connect to the internet?

There are multiple people sending in Cat videos and pictures, so encouraging them might help the people paid to analyse these diseases .... image

I suspect you've all been suckered into a game of generating traffic on the community.

This was cstanton method so he must be it this week, either that or it's a slow week in the dev area.  image

Yep, and it seems to have worked. Next they'll ask for cat videos, and you know that's something I can't resist.

The cat sensor was more of the type that senses if there is a cat in the house. In my case, with indoor cats, that should always be a 'yes'.

I suppose we could also have a gravity sensor that senses if there is still gravity.

In both meanings of "dumbiest" I think that a bracelet that send notifications to your smartphone via the internet (possibly the cloud) sayin that you are watching the notification just now is a good starting point.
