Hi Don! Thank you, and thanks for the question. While volumes can be written comparing and contrasting all of the different technologies available for measuring gas flow, I'll try to give a reasonably…

Hello, Thanks for your reply. The problem has now been solved. There was an error in the catalogue which has now been corrected. The correct sensors are with me and ready for test in my project. Thanks…

    Hi Miss Donna,

just wanted to know if the gyro sensor from (http://export.farnell.com/stmicroelectronics/steval-mki095v1/board-adapter-lpr4150al-mems-24dil/dp/1841112?Ntt=1841112) is already soldered, that is, if I will get it as it is in the picture.

    Hello Yashveen,

It would be best to contact STMicroelectronics directly for that information.

    Regards,

    Donna

    Donna,

I'm interested in measuring force (roughly 0-250N +/- 1%) and speed, maybe using an optical sensor on a rotating shaft. In the future I'd like to add in gradient and position. Its a dynamometer car for a train I'm building! The toughest one so far is the force. I can only find highly expensive industrial kit or hobby stuff that doesn't meet the spec. I plan on building my own data logger using something like a Raspberry Pi or equivalent (yes I know there isn't anything quite like it but you get my drift?).

Are you the right expert to ask? Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Mike

    Hello Donna,

I'm trying to develop a measurment system for human respiration via using distance sensors on the abdomen and chest, to measurement changes in distance  as they expand for respiration.

My idea is to place a magnetic or piece of metal on the chest and/or abdomen, then place a sensor on the back of the patient. I have been looking at magnetic, capacitive, and eddy current based sensors. However, they seem to have a range upto around 55 mm, and also they may not be able to detect around the human body.

Is it not possible to use a magnetic, capacitive, or eddy current based sensor when there is a human body between the sensor and the sensing object?

    Hi Donna,

What type of sensor would be able to let you view on a screen any tangible objects in a 220 degree frontal up to 6 feet away, mounted on a moveable device.

I'd like to be able to drive with a mass restricting my view of what's in front of me, by looking at a monitor with a 180 degree field of detection and a 6' distance capability.

    Hi Vamshi,

The time difference between the US and India make phone calls difficult. Please ask your questions via email and I may be able to help.

You might also contact your local Texas Instruments supplier for information.

    Thanks

    DAB

sensors for respiration are most commonaly a sealed pipe/tube often corugated that goes around the thoracic region, and any movements intercostal or diaphamatic are detected by a change of presure within this tube/pipe.

a bit like a blood presure cuff measures the changes in systolic and diastolic pressures, of course a thoracic cuff is never Presurised in the same way LOL image
