Twisted pair
For my first tests I wired channel 1 and 6 with twisted pairs.
I used these channels to do my first tests, because they allow for a few scenarios:
- 2 x 2 wire voltage, resistance, temperature
- 4 wire resistance
- these channels can also measure current if you solder a shunt resistor
I'll post my measurement of the first two scenarios later. I have no intention (yet) to place shunts on channel 1 and/or 6.
Flat flex
A convenient way to get all 10 channels out is with a flat flex. This cable gives access to all 10 in an orderly way. The copper is thinner though, and you can't twist the pairs.
I tinned the wires before inserting them, and tried to make the whole thing neat.
I reused a little gizmo I made years ago to break out a 2x10 connector to a breadboard:.
Resistance, including the connections from the meter to the card, the relays, the flat flex + connector, my gizmo, a breadboard and a patch wire: 1.9 Ohm.
With the pins bridged right at the flat flex connector, it's less than 1 Ohm:
Good enough for a lot of measurements.
