This video shows a walk through of the construction process, and a bit of showing it off of a portable Wii that's been soft and hard modded into a handheld system that boots to a custom interface that houses everything listed in the title and more. It involves software and hardware designing for it to become real and playable, so the video is FULL of information on how it's made, the steps I took, showing the system off, credited sources of help, and some funny tid bits to express my personality and how it would be like if I was on Ben Heck's Show. I focused on a bunch of aspects like play-ability (the controls, cause what's a portable if you can't play it?) It houses 4 controllers that can be switched for playing; and they are all for playing games the best way for the user. Another focus is the interface for a diverse library, making it easy to use, quick game booting, and all around stylish and completely beautiful art, icons, and originally composed music. The main idea of this system is an ALL in 1 that can not only run vast amounts of games from various systems, but you can PLAY them (hence the focus on mastering controls). I tried to cover everything I could in 18 minutes, Enjoy, Please like and share! and for more photos of the system and other info, check out this page with my audition video as well! Hack Like Heck: MilLs Dj

"I wish to apologize for this negativity related to amount of appropriate credit given to sources for this project. There is no intention of claiming ideas that were not mine. Since this is my first portable Wii and it was a very new build for me, any phrases like "I found out" are suppose to be taken as "I learned". There are infinite amounts of ways to see things as discredited, after all, we are all modifying and making adaptions of existing technology (aka Team Twiizers made HomeBrew for the Wii, which is a Nintendo game system, and Nintendo didn't invent Videogames, Ralph Henry Baer did). Please, comment appropriately, and if there is nothing nice to say, don't say it. I'd rather see no posts than negative ones toward anyone. Thank you."

This is my 1st of many portable Wii's.

Music and Media is found on page 3 and a software user manual is found on page 4!

(I know, if you add up the numbers it doesn’t equal 100,000. But there are minigames inside games, hacked versions of games made by fans and other groups, and Media is infinitely changing. Its more of an abstract thought to say 100,000 videogames becasue there is no definite number, but it is the closest amount I can relate to in the WiiSearch process)

Hello millsdj I go by the online alias of "Shank" and as you probably know, I played a major role in Portablizing the Wii. For 3 years, I spent thousands of hours working on properly reverse engineering…

    Hey Shank,

just from watching my interpretation of "research" here was googling for solutions others came up with in their research. There was a lot of credit given within the video, at least for me as a not-modder to notice that this isn't something he claims to came up with all alone. The presentation was a bit cocky, but he managed to make it work.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings, it helped me understand the down ratings more.

I'm rewatching the video and it's mainly phrases like "after looking around I found out" and bitbuilt (around 7:45) was in fact credited. He's telling a story about how he made the console, gives credit to a lot of people in the video. His attitude seems a bit cocky (sorry), like how he sits and talks about the process. I'm just saying that it's obvious for me that he wasn't doing the actual research, but he did research how to do it, to do it. Not sure I get across what I want to, do you get where I'm trying to go with this?

Wii Portables have so much potential, and I highly recommend anyone interested to try to make one. Its not easy, but you will learn so much along the way.

The biggest issue here is not that he neglected to cite his sources, but that he CLAIMED to have done the work and made the discoveries himself. As a single example, at 8:00-8:34, he claims he discovered all the information contained within this guide. This information is not something that can be easily noticed, as it took a lot of work and large sample sizes to figure out this information. Boards needed to be sanded to determine the number of copper layers, and date codes on chips from a large sample size needed to be analyzed and compared to console release dates to confirm that correlation. We even have an active thread where we are collecting serial numbers to attempt to find more correlations to help users find the perfect board for their portable.

He, and anyone else, is welcome to use this information however they want. However, he played no part in any of this progress. He has asked us for help on our forums months ago, and even thanked us and was welcomed by us recently. It baffles me that he would feel the need to claim credit for all this work as his own.

Just pointing out this is the same Shank from my video(yes, the goofy looking guy strapped to a mattress at MGC.) He's absolutely the key contributing factor behind the greatness of Wii portablizing, and I wouldn't be back in the scene or have been able to make my contest entry without him. You can talk to anyone in the portablizing community at large and his name will eventually come up for something.

I've remained relatively silent here as I haven't had the chance to watch all of the competition entries yet, but I have seen snippets here and there because a lot of people have had questions for me regarding the content of the video. At present, I only feel the need to show my support for what Shank has to say. If someone as non-confrontational as him feels that he's been plagiarized I would say he's probably correct, and considering how MillsDJ has been part of BitBuilt and commenting on projects there since May 19, 2017, I would say it's 100% reasonable to assume that he was fully aware of our research and development, which makes some of what I've seen questionable.

That's about all I have to say on the matter for now. I would ask that anyone who might feel stronger than I do on the subject, please stay civil.

    Hey thanks for your reply,

It's not even that we felt that we weren't given enough credit but rather the fact that he said "I found out" and phrased it as if he made these discoveries himself. Unfortunately, upon looking closer at pictures of his Wii motherboard trimming, our suspicions were confirmed because he used techniques copied 1:1 from our trimming and relocation guide that is not posted anywhere else on the internet. There's nothing wrong with using other people's work - especially in this hobby. It's what allows us to make advancements and keep pushing things forward! However there is a problem when you claim someone's work as your own and such is the case here.

I expected something like this to be the case, that part of the community felt that not enough credit was given. Andrew said "I found out" and that can mean that he "googled that stuff and stumbled across it" and millsdj did actually succeed in recreating all of it, so you got to give him that at least. He made it work. Look at us Raspberry PI people who copy retropie onto an SD card and call it a day. It was fair game to let your parents and family members create an account just to vote for your project. But I'd say that is not the best Idea by element14 in the first place.

Thank you for actually saying what felt wrong and not just simply down rate the entry. May be Andrew can say something about that.

I'm not quite sure what here seems like a game to you. It's quite serious for those of us who actually did the work to develop the techniques and research the information that Andrew Miller is claiming to be his own. I'm sure you don't want this community to be full of thieves?

I chose not to enter the contest. Film editing is not a skill of mine and Reality TV is not career I want to pursue. I pursue portablizing as a hobby I love and enjoy, rather than a career I want to make money from. But I am truly saddened that someone would choose to plagiarize my work to try to win a contest.

Yes, we have our own community dedicated to the process of "portablizing" consoles over at bitbuilt.net. All of our work is public and free so feel free to check it out!

I also wish more credit was given seeing as how the completion of this entry was dependent on our research, but what are you going to do I suppose.

As I was watching this video, I was wondering if it was an original idea or if this was already done by someone else (and then I read this comment). Just seemed like a lot of different resources and components were used for this that were not original but complied from many sources.

Overall -- I LOVE THIS IDEA! As a former gamer, this is awesome. I just wish more credit was given to the original pioneers for this technology.
