    I had an instructor that used the same phrase - I think in connection to report writing objectives. It seems to me the more I know the less obvious it becomes.

    Interesting episode, although designing for failure rubs me the wrong way. I would like to see to see if there is a difference between realistic attempts - I doubt anyone would design with a 6 mil trace…

    I agree, a follow up episode showing how to impedance match traces and compare them to filled zones would be interesting!

    baldengineer  I don't know about the "easy" rating.  I once had an instructor that would say things were "intuitively obvious to the most casual observer" - but only once you knew the correct answer.  I really appreciate you taking the time to walk through the WHY behind you making the board the way you did.  Great stuff!  Very useful. Thumbsup

    and once again Iḿ reminded while I usually stick with linear PSUs...but Iḿ also reminded that I should start designing switch mode PSUS into my projects...

    Thanks DAB.

    This video was an idea that I had in the back of my mind for a long time.

    Waiting for them to come back was a little nerve-racking. I sent them all out at the same time. I biggest fear is there would be like a 10-20 mV difference between them!.

    And seeing the "auto routed" vs the "6 mil route, no ground plane" performance made me think: W.T.H. But I built two others of the 6 mil board. They all perform the same!

    Great episode.

    I remember watching the PC board designers back in the 1970's and you verified everything they told me that works.

    PCB design may look easy but as you demonstrated, looks can be deceiving.

    Even a simple circuit requires some knowledge and experience.
