What do you think is the best Single board Computer in the market?

There are too many options to choose from now. There is no right or wrong answer here. Please tell us why in the comments section below.

I have created this document so that we can compare all the SBCs in one place. Please edit it and add information on the SBCs you know about for the benefit of the community.

    There are so many options and the "best" really does depend on what your project requirements are. For the same person the best may well change a lot depending on the design requirements for what they…

    Of course, now there is the Raspberry Pi 4B, which is much better than a Raspberry Pi 3B+.

    Tomorrow there will be something better.

    Your poll is very subjective and will depend on each individuals definition of best. best price, best options, best flexibility, best.....

    My "best" definition would be framed by support. The extensive support community for the Pi provides the developer a resource to draw when needed. Without the support community the developer is left with the manual (if lucky) and his own self reliance.

    Looks interesting, but I'm kind of soured on kickstarter products these days.  They lack the standards and quality control of products built by companies that can afford to build them correctly, test them for EMI, thermal, and other properties.  I've got a pile of boards that I can't use due to obsolescence or lack of support from the manufacturer (if they are still in business).

    Since your question was general (no "for this specific purpose..."), I have to go with the answer that best suits someone new to SBCs, which I feel is the Raspberry Pi simply because it's easy to setup and use, and has a lot of online support and tutorials available, and the price point is nice (especially for the RPi Zero).

    It's not the fastest and it's probably not built or designed as well as others, and it probably doesn't have as much "stuff" as some others, but for the purpose it does a great job.

    I was tempted by the Raspberry Pi but I got won over by the Beagleboard Black, well more so due to the two PRU (programmable real time units) or 200MHz MCUs which share the same memory as the Linux kernel. This meant I could use Debian and all its goodies, and still use the PRUs for interrupts (circumventing the non-prempetive Linux kernel) which gives me a true embedded fit-for-anything board which one can program at both, high and low level, concurrently.

    Not to beat this subject into the ground but I just saw a working Arduino-based application as a LIN protocol analyzer:

         Master === Arduino === Slave 1 === Slave 2 .....

    See https://github.com/zapta/linbus

    Arduino would be an excellent low-cost tool for the job.
