I am building a rover with the dagu rover 5 kit and I am trying to build a PCB for it. In order to build a PCB for it the PCB needs a USB. I am using USB 1-1734028-1 and I can't figure out what CASE pin does. I know CASE stands for Computer Aided Software Engineering but I have no idea what to do with that pin in the USB can anybody help me?

I took your advice and I found this really amazing software called FreePCB. Thanks for your help and if anybody in the future doesn't want to buy eagle I suggest they use FreePCB.

Before describing $170 as "unbelievably expensive", I suggest you check

the retail price of Altium, Orcad, Protel, Mentor or others of the like!

If it's open source you're after, which Eagle isn't, then this probably

isn't the right place to be asking. I assume you've noticed the name of

the group (Eagle support) and the subject line (about CadSoft EAGLE)?

That said, yes there are FOSS electronics CAD programs, which can be

easily found with Google. So why not try that first?

I am a big fan of eagle but there are few problems with it. It is so unbelievably expensive. I am trying to design a PCB with eagle and the free version of eagle won't let me design a PCB bigger than 6" and have multiple layers to it. I looked at the eagle homepage and I found out there is a way to design a PCB for the requirements I need it to be but for a lower price. Unfortunately what I mean be lower price isn't actually that low and is about 170 USD. Do you know if there are any PCB CAD soft wares available but is free and open source because I don't want to pay 170 USD.

Hi Gabriel,

I hope you're doing well. It sounds like you're trying to remove the

silkscreen from the board. If I'm incorrect on that assumption, please

correct me.

In order to disable the silkscreen from showing up in the gerbers you

must make sure that tPlace, tNames, bPlace, and bNames are not in the

gerbers. Here's the procedure assuming a two-layer board assuming

components on top only.

1. Click the CAM processor icon

2. In the CAM processor dialog go File->Open->Job...

3. Select gerb274x.cam and click open.

4. You'll see several tabs along the top find and select the one that

says Silk Screen CMP(for board with components on both sides you'll also

see Silk Screen SOL).

5. Click on the tNames and tPlace layers to disable them. The only layer

that should be highlighted is Dimension.

6. Click Process job to create the gerbers.

I resolved the issue by redrawing the devices I made and redrawing the schematic from scratch while importing the new devices. Something was stuck on a metric grid apparently. Thanks for your response. :-)

Can you point me to a resource for designing copper planes in eagle - a tutorial if you will on power/gnd plane construction?

1. please check the coordinate of the PIN in SYMBOL, must be 0.1 inch

    grid.

2. check the Gate in device-editor, must be in 0.1 inch grid.

3. check the origin of the gates in schematic, must be in 0.1 inch grid.

Do you have run the ULPs in exact order:

RUN snap-pin-in-symbol (Symbol-Editor)

UPDATE library  (Schematic Editor)

RUN snap-on-grid-sch.ulp (Schematic Editor)

How do you draw the net? By NET-Command, or WIRE-Commend?
